We use cookies to make our website as user-friendly and functional as possible for you. Some of these cookies are stored on the device you use to access the site.

Cookies are small packages of data that are exchanged between your browser and our web server whenever you visit our website. They do not cause any damage and can only store information provided by your browser, e.g. information that you have entered into your browser or that is available on the website. Cookies cannot execute code.

When you visit our website, you will be asked to give your consent to the activation of various cookies via the "cookie banner" in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR.

We categorise cookies according to their purpose and function:

  • Technically necessary cookies are required to carry out the electronic communication process (e.g. secure surfing), to provide certain functions you request (e.g. flawless use of our forms) and to query your cookie settings. These cookies are stored on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically error-free and optimized provision of our services. You cannot set preferences individually for this category in the cookie banner. However, as described below, you have the option to generally prevent cookies, which may lead to a reduced use of our website for this type of cookies.
  • Marketing cookies: We use tools on our website to measure the effectiveness and success of our online advertising measures, e.g. Google Ads and Facebook campaigns. The storage of the cookies in question is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR); you can revoke your consent at any time here.

Our tools

Google Tools (marketing cookies)

We use some Google tools on our website. Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland is responsible for all Google services in Europe. Data collected via the following tools is stored on Google's own servers around the world. Most of the servers are located in the United States. Data transfer to the USA is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which should ensure adequate data protection in the USA. Furthermore, Google also relies on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission (Art. 46 (2) and (3) GDPR) and thus undertakes to largely comply with the European level of data protection when processing your data. Details can be found here: https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks?hl=en

Depending on whether you use Google tools (e.g. a Google account) and depending on which Google services you have given your consent to, Google may combine data collected via our website with information that Google already has and create profiles about you. This enables Google to subsequently offer you customised services and benefits. In these cases, Google is solely responsible for this data processing.

The storage period of your data depends on the type of data collected and the respective tool.

We use the following Google tools on our website:

  • Google Tag Manager
  • Google Analytics 4
  • Google Marketingtools: Ads and Conversion-Tracking

Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a tool that allows us to easily and quickly integrate tracking or statistics tools and other technologies on our website. The Google Tag Manager itself does not create any user profiles, does not store any cookies and does not carry out any independent analyses. It is only used to manage and display the tools integrated via it. However, Google Tag Manager records your IP address, which may also be transmitted to Google's parent company in the United States.

We use Google Tag Manager on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR) to ensure the smoothest and easiest possible administration of the website for our team.

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 enables us to analyse the behaviour of website visitors and to better adapt our website to their wishes. We receive various usage data, e.g. page views, length of visit, operating systems used, origin and surfing behaviour of the user. This data is summarized in a user ID and assigned to the respective end device of the website visitor.

Google Analytics also uses various modelling approaches to supplement the collected data records

and uses machine learning technologies for data analysis.

Google Analytics uses technologies that enable the recognition of the user (i.e. the end device used by the user) for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting).

The storage period for user-related data is limited to 2 months.

Google Analytics is only activated via the cookie banner after you have given your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. You can change your preferred settings and withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie banner.

You can generally prevent the collection and processing of your data by the Google Analytics tool by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

Google Ads enables us to display ads in the Google search engine or on third-party websites when the user enters certain search terms in Google (keyword targeting). Furthermore, targeted ads can be displayed based on the user data available at Google (e.g. interests) (target group targeting). As the website operator, we can evaluate this data quantitatively by analysing, for example, which search terms led to the display of our advertisements and how many advertisements led to corresponding clicks.

With the help of Google Ads conversion tracking, Google and we can recognise whether the user has carried out certain actions. For example, we can analyse which buttons on our website were clicked how often, how many newsletter registrations were made and which areas were viewed particularly frequently. This information is used to create conversion statistics. We find out the total number of users who have clicked on our ads and what actions they have taken. We do not receive any information with which we can personally identify the user. Google itself uses cookies or comparable recognition technologies for identification purposes.

The use of these services is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR via the cookie banner. You can change your preferred settings and withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie banner.

Meta-Pixel (Marketing-Cookies)

On our website, we use the visitor action pixel from Facebook/Meta for conversion measurement. This allows us to track the behavior of our site visitors after they have been redirected to the website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of the Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes and to optimize future advertising measures.

The data collected is anonymous for us as operators of the website, we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that for Facebook a connection to the respective user profile is possible and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with the Facebook Data Usage Policy (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy). This allows Facebook to enable the placement of advertisements on Facebook pages as well as outside of Facebook. This use of your data cannot be influenced by us as the site operator.

Insofar as personal data is collected on our website with the help of the tool described above and forwarded to Facebook, we and Meta are jointly responsible for this data processing (Art. 26 GDPR). The joint responsibility is limited exclusively to the collection of the data and its forwarding to Facebook. The processing by Facebook that takes place after the onward transfer is not part of the joint responsibility. The obligations incumbent on us jointly have been set out in a joint processing agreement. The text of the agreement can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum.

According to this agreement, we are responsible for providing the privacy information when using the Facebook tool and for the privacy-secure implementation of the tool on our website. Facebook is responsible for the data security of Facebook products. You can assert data subject rights (e.g., requests for information) regarding data processed by Facebook directly with Facebook. If you assert the data subject rights with us, we are obliged to forward your request to Facebook.

You can deactivate the Facebook "Custom Audiences" remarketing function in the Ad Settings section at https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads. To do this, you must be logged into Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can deactivate usage-based advertising from Facebook on the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement/

The processing of your data is based on your consent within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) a GDPR, which you can manage via the cookie banner on the website. You can also revoke this consent at any time via the cookie banner with effect for the future.

These explanations apply equally to Instagram.

Matomo for website statistics

For web analysis, we use the website analysis tool "Matomo" from InnoCraft Ltd, 150 Willis Street, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand (country with adequacy decision). We have configured the tool so that Matomo does not store any cookies in your browser and the statistical data remains on our own servers.

For web analysis, surfing behavior (e.g. when do users visit our website; do they come to us directly or via another website; which pages are visited; which links are clicked on; how long do users stay on our website) as well as browser information (e.g. is our website visited via a PC or a mobile phone; which browsers are used to visit our website; from which countries do users access our website) are processed. All data that are processed are available to us as aggregated, statistical data.

When analyzing with Matomo, we use IP anonymization. In this case, your IP address is shortened before analysis so that it can no longer be clearly assigned to you.

Matomo is used on the basis of our legitimate interest in statistical website analyses in accordance with Art. Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. You can object at any time via the following link: https://matomo.hiro.ki/index.php?module=CoreAdminHome&action=optOut&language=en&showIntro=1
